Children's Privacy Notice (COPPA)

Last updated: May 7, 2026
For parents and guardians. This notice explains how MathKnights complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) for children under 13. In short: only a parent (or legal guardian) creates an account; a child plays under a profile linked to that account using a display nickname and a 4-digit PIN — never a real name or email. You are in control, and you can review or delete your child's information at any time.

1. Who This Notice Is From

This notice is provided by Nexplay AI LLC ("MathKnights," "we," "us," or "our"), the operator of the MathKnights website, applications, and related services (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect From Children

We have intentionally designed MathKnights to collect as little information from children as possible. Children do not create their own accounts. A parent creates the account and sets up one or more child profiles ("Knights"). For each Knight, we collect only:

What we collectProvided byPurpose
Knight display name (a nickname, not a real name) Parent Identify the profile to the child during play
4-digit PIN (stored as a hash) Parent Allow the child to sign in to their profile without the parent's password
Optional grade level or skill range Parent Calibrate question difficulty
Practice activity (questions presented, answers, time spent, hints, scores) Generated automatically as the child plays Save progress, support retakes, show history to the parent
Persistent identifiers (e.g., session cookies, IP address) tied to the device Collected automatically Internal operations only — keeping the child signed in to their profile, securing the Service, and protecting against fraud and abuse

We do not collect or knowingly accept from a child any of the following: real name, email address, telephone number, home or other physical address, photograph, voice or video recording, geolocation more precise than city-level (and only as derived from IP address), Social Security number, or any persistent identifier used for purposes other than internal operations.

3. How We Use Children's Information

We use the limited information described above only to:

  • Provide the Service — sign the child in to their Knight profile and run math practice quests;
  • Save and display the child's practice history to the parent;
  • Calibrate difficulty and unlock retakes within the practice flow;
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug technical problems;
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use children's information for behavioral advertising, profiling for marketing, or to train third-party machine-learning models.

4. How We Share Children's Information

We share children's information only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers acting on our behalf. For example, our cloud hosting provider helps us store account data. These providers are contractually limited to using information only to provide services to us, are required to maintain confidentiality, and may not use the information for their own purposes.
  • Legal and safety requirements. If required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the safety of a child or another person.
  • With the parent's direction. For example, if you ask us to send a progress report to a specified email.

We do not sell children's personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or disclose it to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Parental Consent

Because the parent creates the MathKnights account, sets up each Knight profile, and provides any information that is collected (other than activity generated as the child plays), we treat account creation as the parent's consent under COPPA's "internal operations" framework for the limited information we collect.

If we ever expand the Service in a way that would collect additional categories of personal information from children, or use it for purposes beyond those described above, we will obtain verifiable parental consent first using a method permitted by COPPA before any such collection or use begins, and we will update this notice.

6. Parent Rights — Review, Delete, and Refuse Further Collection

As the parent or legal guardian of a child whose Knight profile is on your account, you have the right at any time to:

  • Review the personal information we have collected for that Knight;
  • Refuse to permit further collection or use of that Knight's information;
  • Delete the Knight profile and all of its associated information (display name, PIN, practice history).

To delete a Knight, sign in to the parent dashboard and use the delete option on the Knight's profile. To review or export a Knight's information, or for any COPPA-related request, email support@mathknights.com from the parent email address on file. We will verify the request using that email and respond within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days.

If you refuse to allow further collection of your child's information, we will stop collecting it and may need to terminate the Knight profile, since a profile cannot function without the limited data described in Section 2.

7. Data Retention

We retain a Knight's information only as long as needed to provide the Service or as required by law. When a parent deletes a Knight profile or the parent account, we delete or de-identify the associated child information within 30 days, except for limited records we must keep for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect children's information, including TLS in transit, hashed PINs, access controls, and the practice of not collecting unnecessary data in the first place.

9. Changes to This Notice

If we make material changes to this Children's Privacy Notice — particularly any change that would expand the information we collect from children or how we use it — we will notify the parent by email and obtain new verifiable parental consent if COPPA requires it before the change takes effect.
